Dharma in the Vatican (Testiculos Habet Et Bene Pendentes!)

by Aranyakananda

A little background on the Latin subtitle of this post:

Legend has it that one of the Popes in the Middle Ages was later found out to be a woman. She is known today as Pope Joan. Legend has it that to this day when a pope is crowned or throned or whatever is done to him, he is required to sit on a chair with a cut-out whereby an official may reach underneath to, shall we say, verify that he is a man. Upon verification the Latin phrase in question would be shouted: “He has testicles, and they hang well!”

And speaking of which:

Even though I have not been a Catholic for quite some time, I still have friends and family who are guided by the precepts passed down by the Pope. And so, I would hope that when the new Pontiff is chosen, he is a man guided by a sense of duty. It will not be easy. It will perhaps mean stripping down parts of the church to its foundation. Cleaning house. All those cliches. I hope he will have the guts to make the changes that need to be made to more effectively lead his flock to God.

Dharma is not just for Hindus and Buddhists, etc. The Pope is a guru to millions who expect infallibility. I have read recently that the reason Pope Benedict is stepping down is because of the sex abuse scandal, activities that he himself has abetted. I have no way of verifying that is true. But if so, I hope that the new Pontiff is a man of strength of character, so guided by the Holy Spirit (Paramatma in Hinduism) that the alleged offenses will be an insufferable outrage. It seems that the necessary outrage has been contained in order to maintain the status quo in the Catholic Church. It seems to me that the alleged cover-up, if true, would more than warrant a Papal backlash against adharma in the strongest form.

Jai Hari Aum!

Seems you, and Spirit, and many, many others — well, all those working diligently for the Light — got our wish. Francis of Assisi was, if anything, the most dedicated and ‘dutiful’ saint (towards the poor, the disenfranchised, the abused, and the environment, that is, and NOT towards his original elite, aristocratic social class) the Roman Catholic Empire ever had the privelege to support. Rumor has it that it is HE who is actually guiding this mold-busting, reformist newly annointed King of Vatican City along the highest and most beneficial path possible in these tumultuous change times, in order for that country/empire/institution to evolve into what it should have always been, and help steward humanity into the Golden Age instead of imploding upon its own decayed core in wretched disintegration and disgrace. Hope springs eternal. . . . .

That very well may be true. šŸ™‚ I know a lot of karma yogis are fond of the St. Francis prayer “God Make me an Instrument of your peace…”
